Teaching
I teach ecology and conservation biology, as well as insect, arthropod, and plant biology.
I emphasize fundamental knowledge and the applications of these subjects while incorporating exercises for students to improve critical thinking, independent learning, and writing skills.
Research
My research focus is to understand biodiversity patterns.
I investigate patterns and mechanism acting at the population and community scales during community assembly. Recently my research interests have broadened to include biodiversity responses to land use, management practices, and effects of climate change.
